Fovo ("Fovo", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Fovo.fi, how we use it, how it may be shared, and what rights you have regarding your personal data.
By using Fovo, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy.
The data controller for the personal data processed through Fovo is:
If you have questions about privacy or how your personal data is handled, please contact us at info@fovo.fi.
Depending on how you use Fovo, we may collect the following information.
When you upload a CV for review, the CV may contain personal information such as:
Please avoid including sensitive personal information that is not necessary for your CV review.
If you contact us by email or another communication method, we may collect your name, email address, message and any other information you choose to provide.
If you choose to subscribe to our tips emails, through the signup boxes on our website or the optional checkbox in the CV form, we collect your email address and, if you give it in the CV form, your name. This is optional, and it is separate from using the CV review. We also note which page you signed up from (for example the citizenship test article), so we can send you updates on that topic. Subscriber lists are stored and emails are sent using MailerLite (MailerLite Limited), which processes the data on our behalf.
If you choose to answer one of our feedback forms or surveys, we collect the answers you submit and any contact details you voluntarily add.
When you visit Fovo.fi, our website and service providers may automatically collect limited technical information such as:
This information may be used to operate, secure and improve the website.
If you purchase a paid Fovo service, payment processing may be handled by a third-party payment provider.
Fovo does not store your full payment card details when payment is processed by a third-party payment provider.
When you use the Cover Letter tool, you upload your CV and paste a job ad. These are sent to our AI provider to write your letter. The CV file is not stored by Fovo. A short summary of the CV facts needed for your letter, the job ad and the finished letter are kept only in your own browser (local storage) on that device, so the letter can be shown after payment. You can delete them by clearing your browser data. Payments are handled by Stripe; to confirm your payment we check the payment status with Stripe, and we never see your card details.
Your score is worked out in your own browser. To write your result text, we send only your level and the names of the topics (for example "partitive case") to our AI provider, never your name or email. If you don't enter an email, we don't store anything from the check.
If you enter your email (only needed for the paid study pack), we store your email, the first name you give (optional), your level, the topics, and whether each question was right or wrong (not your actual answers). This is stored with our form service (Forminit) and our automation tool (Zapier) and used only to send the study pack you buy. It is not sold or shared with other companies, and you are not added to our email list unless you sign up separately. We delete this data after 90 days. You can ask us to delete it sooner by emailing info@fovo.fi.
We process personal data for the following purposes:
We do not sell your personal information.
Fovo uses artificial intelligence to analyse CV content and generate feedback.
To provide this service, CV information may be processed by third-party AI or technology service providers used by Fovo.
AI processing is used to analyse the information contained in your CV and generate relevant feedback and recommendations.
AI-generated feedback is intended to provide general guidance and should not be considered a guarantee of employment, an assessment by an employer, or professional recruitment advice.
Uploaded CVs are used to provide the CV review service you requested.
When you submit a CV through Fovo, the information may be processed and stored through third-party services used to operate Fovo, including Forminit and Zapier Tables.
Fovo retains submitted CV information for a maximum of 30 days.
After this period, Fovo will delete the submitted CV information from the systems used by Fovo where reasonably possible.
You may also request deletion of your personal data before the end of this period by contacting info@fovo.fi.
Please note that third-party service providers may retain certain information in backups or other systems for a limited period in accordance with their own data-retention and backup policies.
Payment and accounting records connected to a paid purchase are kept for as long as accounting and tax law requires.
If you subscribe to our tips emails, we keep your email address until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
Fovo does not sell CVs or use uploaded CVs for advertising purposes.
Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, we process personal data on one or more of the following legal bases:
We process information that is necessary to provide the Fovo service you request.
We may process limited technical information where necessary to maintain security, prevent abuse, improve the service and operate our website.
Where required, we may ask for your consent before processing certain information, such as our optional tips emails. You can withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in an email or by writing to info@fovo.fi.
We may process information where necessary to comply with applicable legal obligations, such as accounting and tax requirements.
We do not sell your personal data. We share personal data only with service providers that help us operate Fovo, and only as needed to provide the service. These may include providers of:
Review invitations. After a paid order, we share your name, email address and an order reference with Trustpilot, so that Trustpilot can send you one email inviting you to review Fovo. Leaving a review is voluntary and never affects your order. Trustpilot processes this information under its own privacy policy. If you do not want to receive the invitation, email info@fovo.fi before or after your order and we will not share your details for this purpose.
We may also disclose personal data where required by law or by a competent authority.
Some of the service providers we use may process data outside the EU/EEA, for example in the United States. Where personal data is transferred outside the EU/EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or other transfer mechanisms provided by the relevant provider.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
To exercise these rights, contact us at info@fovo.fi. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
If you used the earlier Thai-language version of Fovo from Thailand, you may also have rights under Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), which you can exercise by contacting us in the same way.
If you believe your personal data has been handled unlawfully, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Finland this is the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi).
Analytics (only with your consent). If you click "Accept" in our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to understand how visitors use Fovo — for example which pages are visited, which buttons are clicked, and whether a review or quiz was completed. This uses cookies and collects data such as pages viewed, approximate location (country/city level), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. We do not send your name, email address, CV content or quiz answers to Google Analytics, and we do not use it for advertising. The legal basis is your consent. Data may be transferred to and processed by Google outside the EU/EEA under appropriate safeguards. If you click "Decline", Google Analytics is not loaded at all.
You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. Your choice itself is stored only in your own browser.
Partner and creator links. If you arrive at Fovo through a partner's or creator's link (for example a link ending in "?ref=partnername"), we record that partner code, or "direct" if there is none, together with your CV submission, so we know which partners send visitors to Fovo. If you have accepted analytics cookies, the code is also remembered in your browser for up to 30 days. If you have not, it is not stored in your browser; it is only carried along in the page address while you browse Fovo. The partner never receives your name, email address or CV.
Other third-party resources. Fovo does not use advertising cookies. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and your IP address may be transmitted to Google when you visit. Our hosting and form providers may also process technical data needed to deliver and secure the website.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We may update this Privacy Policy when reasonably necessary, for example because of changes to our services or applicable law. The latest version will always be published on this page with the update date shown at the top.
